Summer Program Part 2

(Click Here to see part 1)

A group of interns selected for a summer production program first went through our digital story training where they produced their first individual story.  The group’s next assignment would rely on teamwork.  Guided by experienced mentors, they expanded to learn the ins and outs of video production, and editing using the same digital storytelling techniques as a foundation.  Much like on a movie or TV set, the interns were given the opportunity to experience different production roles and responsibilities. They not only learned about each department but also actively participated in various aspects of the production process. The interns set out to create educational videos on job readiness and financial education. From scriptwriting to lighting and sound management, they delved deep into the intricacies of the production world and the importance of teamwork, communication, and problem-solving skills - all essential traits required in the television and film industry.  They produced videos on the following:

  • Job Readiness

  • Financial Literacy

Finally, the day arrived for their hard work to be showcased to the world. The interns, their mentors, sponsors, and community members gathered at the local theater for a red carpet style movie premiere. Excitement filled the air as the lights dimmed and the first video began to play.
Each video was a testament to their growth, resilience, and newfound confidence. The group videos, filled with educational content, left the audience inspired and motivated.  As the credits rolled, applause erupted throughout the theater. The transformation of these young individuals from uncertain youth to talented storytellers and media producers was not just measured by the amazing videos produced; it was evident in the interns' personal growth and the newfound hope they carried within them.
